How does life, its living power, pass through art? How does photography “bear” images? Through the language of photography I try to elude the habits of the gaze. I photograph seeking contact with a wild, prehistoric, childlike animality, free of artistic intention, in which I cannot see something without being touched by it. I search for that close-up vision in which the space held in images is not merely visual, but above all tactile and auditory space. It is not possible to distance myself from what I see; I am not in front of something without being inside it.
I experiment with the centre and with the loss of the point of view, to transform thoughts and dreams.
An image is never complete, finished,
it seeks an encounter.
So I am no longer the solitary observer who takes the photograph and walks away:
I try to recapture the sensations I felt;
the images keep transforming through me, through what I have seen, what I think!
